Top Rated Moving Companies Nashville | 2026 Guide

What “Top Rated” Should Mean When You Choose a Mover

Ratings are a starting point, but the reasons behind them are what matter. A top-rated moving company should earn that rating on the same handful of things every customer cares about: showing up when promised, protecting the home, handling belongings carefully, communicating clearly and charging the price that was quoted. Here is how JM Moving approaches each one.

Reliability

We run our own trucks and employ our own movers, so the crew you book is the crew that arrives. We answer the phone 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and confirm your arrival window before moving day.

Protection of the home

Before anything moves, the crew lays floor runners, pads door jambs, adds corner guards to tight turns and covers stair banisters. The same setup goes down again at the new home before unloading.

Care with belongings

Furniture is wrapped in moving pads. Beds and tables are disassembled and reassembled, with hardware kept in labeled bags. Art, pianos and safes are wrapped with written condition notes, and custom crating is available for art and mirrors.

Clear communication

A crew lead walks the home with you at the start and finish of every move. Questions get answered on the spot, and changes are agreed with you before they happen.

Honest pricing

Local moves are $250 per hour for two movers and a truck and $350 per hour for three movers and a truck, full service. Travel time, fuel, one flight of stairs, elevators and tax are not charged on local moves. Flat rates are quoted on the phone after a walkthrough in person or by video, and the exact price is always confirmed on the call.

How Our Service Fits Different Kinds of Moves

Apartments and condos

We coordinate elevator reservations, loading docks and certificate-of-insurance requirements with building management, and schedule around move windows, including early mornings and evenings.

Family homes

We plan crew size from the real inventory, including garages, basements and bonus rooms, so the job finishes on schedule. Three movers is often the best value for larger homes.

Estates and luxury homes

For larger homes in Belle Meade, Green Hills, Forest Hills, Oak Hill, Brentwood and Franklin, we start with a walkthrough, plan truck placement on long driveways, and give art, antiques, pianos and safes extra time and documentation.

Offices and businesses

After-hours and weekend moves keep businesses running. We follow a labeled floor plan so desks and equipment are in place before staff return.

Long-distance moves

Our regular routes connect Nashville with Miami, Augusta and Boston, using our own trucks, so the company that loads your home is responsible for delivering it.

Emergency and same-day moves

When another mover cancels, we tell you on the first call whether a crew can reach you before your deadline, with no emergency surcharge on local moves.

How to Compare Top-Rated Movers

Give every company the same inventory, access details and dates. Then compare what each includes: number of movers, truck size, whether travel time and fuel are billed, how stairs and heavy items are charged, and whether the company performs the move itself. Read reviews from moves similar to yours, and ask each company how it would handle your specific home. The best choice is the one whose answers are specific, consistent and written down.

Our Background

JM Moving is family-owned, based at 6430 Charlotte Pike in west Nashville, with more than 23 years of experience in the moving industry and a team of about 30. Over the last two years, much of our work has been in high-rise buildings and high-end homes across Nashville. Call (615) 710-9990, any time, to plan your move.

A Top-Rated Move, Step by Step

The first call. We answer around the clock and ask about your addresses, date, home size, access and specialty items. You get a recommended crew size and your rate on the call.

The walkthrough. For larger homes and flat-rate quotes, we review the home in person or by video so the price reflects the real job.

Before moving day. The crew lead reviews your details, and we confirm the arrival window. You reserve elevators, confirm parking and finish packing, or we pack for you.

Arrival. The crew walks the home with you, then sets up runners, jamb pads, corner guards and banister covers.

Wrapping and loading. Furniture is wrapped and disassembled where needed, and the truck is loaded heaviest-first with everything strapped and gaps filled.

Delivery. Protection goes down at the new home, furniture is placed where you choose, and beds and tables are reassembled.

The finish. A final walk-through at both homes, and on hourly moves you pay for the actual time worked at your rate.

Why Ratings Follow Standards

Good ratings are not something a moving company can chase directly. They follow from doing the same careful things on every job, whether the move is a studio apartment or a five-bedroom estate. Our standards are written down and trained so they do not depend on which crew is working that day. As we grow our fleet and team, those standards are what we protect first. If a move ever falls short of them, we want to hear about it directly, so we can make it right and keep improving.

Preparing for Your Move With a Top-Rated Crew

Even the best crew moves faster when the home is ready. Pack and label every box by destination room before moving day, and tape boxes closed so they stack safely. Empty dressers of heavy or fragile items. Disconnect the washer, dryer and electronics, and defrost the freezer the night before. Reserve elevators and confirm parking for a 26-foot truck at both addresses. Set aside documents, medications, keys, chargers and valuables to travel with you. Plan care for children and pets so doors can stay open safely. And post room names on the doors at the new home, so every box and piece of furniture goes to the right place the first time.

Moving Special Items the Right Way

Pianos, safes, large art, chandeliers, marble-top furniture, wine collections and gym equipment each need their own plan. Tell us about them when you call so we bring the right equipment and enough movers. Pianos and safes are moved on proper dollies or boards with a planned route, especially on stairs. Marble and stone tops travel on edge. Chandeliers are disassembled with crystals wrapped individually. Wine travels upright in divided cartons and is not left in a hot truck. Art, pianos and safes receive written condition notes before they move, and art and mirrors can be custom crated.

Moving Throughout the Year

Nashville moves look different by season. Summer brings heat and humidity, so early starts protect crews and heat-sensitive belongings. Spring brings storms, so we protect entries and adjust for soft driveways. Winter is usually mild, with occasional ice that calls for extra care on steps and ramps. End-of-month dates are busy all year because of lease turnovers. Planning around the season keeps your move safe and on schedule.

Moving With a Deadline

Closings, lease ends, building elevator windows and job start dates all create hard deadlines. When you have one, tell us at the first call. We will size the crew to finish with time to spare, often recommending three movers instead of two, and we can start early in the morning, in the evening or even the night before, because we operate around the clock. If your deadline moves, call us right away and we will adjust the plan. A top-rated move is one that finishes before the deadline, not one that races it.

After the Move

If anything needs attention after your move, such as a piece that needs adjusting or a question about your bill, call the same number. We would rather hear from you directly than have a concern go unresolved.
